A trusted confidant who knows the ins, outs, nuances, and obstacles of living with family wealth.
Meet Leah Hemeyer.
I help individuals from multigenerational families find inner emotional wealth and fulfill their potential.
Growing up in the 4th generation of a successful business family, I have learned firsthand about the psychology of wealth and the complexities of navigating life as a member of a high-net-worth family. Over the years, I’ve played the role of daughter, leader, wife, mother, and more. Serving on boards and committees within my family enterprise has been a privilege and is a role I continue to play today.
Likewise, I draw on my more than 15 years of professional experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado to help my clients tap into and improve their self-view, supporting their overall well-being and helping them realize their true potential. I have a passion for creating space for honest conversation and helping individuals to sort out the emotional complexities of wealth.
Experience
-
Leah achieved a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver and has been practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor for the past 15 years. Initially, her focus was to support community and mental health. For over the past decade, she has worked as an “integrated” therapist in a primary care practice in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. While Leah does not provide healthcare or counseling services through Inward, her additional professional activities as a Licensed Professional Counselor enrich the value and perspective she provides her clients.
-
Leah’s family and their advisors have worked very hard to build strong family governance to allow for proper oversight and direction of privately-held family entities. As a past chair and current member of the family’s governing board, she’s supported and led strategic planning efforts and leadership transitions between generations in the family, as well as, created educational programs to support the next generation and other learning needs within the larger family. Family connectedness and legacy are elements Leah holds dear, recognizing the importance and value family relationships bring to life. She believes being an active steward of wealth is an important endeavor.
-
Additionally, Leah has been invited to speak on panels at professional conferences in the family office space regarding her experience with family governance and education in multigenerational families. She’s also spoken at the Families in Business Program at the Harvard Business School regarding her family’s education program.
Philosophy
Talking openly about wealth—and the associated complexity—isn’t easy.
That’s why it’s important to have a safe, confidential space for honest, open conversation.
Each individual’s story is entirely their own and unique to them. That’s what I make space for.
I believe deeply in the power of possibility and helping others discover—and bring to life—their inner truth.
My unique ability to listen, build insight, and support change helps individuals find greater comfort in an already good situation.
Why? Because everyone has the ability to make change, take on challenge, and find alignment.
My Values & Beliefs
-
Everyone Can Find Their Own Path
Everyone—inheritors, family members, partners, parents, grandparents, philanthropists, community members, and more—can navigate the complexities of family wealth to build uniquely meaningful, happy lives.
-
Authenticity & Safety Are Key
It’s critical to have a confidential space for honest, open conversation. While I can’t tell you what to do, we can create the space for you to figure it out—through judgment-free listening, informed questioning, and reflective conversations.
-
Wealth Demands Intention
Wealth impacts everything, from identity to relationships to career. I’ll help you with the introspection needed to navigate its challenges, pressure, and possibilities—so you’re in control, and it doesn’t control you.
